Question 1: Why does God hate divorce? (Malachi 2:16) And why does God divorce Israel? (Jeremiah 3:8-10) Double standard?
Malachi 2:16 (NKJV) “For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,” Says the LORD of hosts. “Therefore take heed to your spirit, That you do not deal treacherously.”
Jeremiah 3:8-10 (NIV) 8 I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries. Yet I saw that her unfaithful sister Judah had no fear; she also went out and committed adultery. 9 Because Israel’s immorality mattered so little to her, she defiled the land and committed adultery with stone and wood. 10 In spite of all this, her unfaithful sister Judah did not return to me with all her heart, but only in pretense,” declares the Lord.
Allow vs Endorse
Question 2: In Deuteronomy 24: 3-4, why can’t a person who has been divorced twice remarry their first spouse?
Deut 24: 1-4 (NIV) If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
Question 3: Greek question? What is the difference in Rhema (Word) and Logos (Word)?
John 1:1 (NIV) In the beginning was the Word(Logos), and the Word(Logos) was with God, and the Word(Logos) was God.
Ephesians 6:17 (NIV) Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word(Rhema) of God.
Question 4: Should Christians be pacifists or is it OK to fight in wars? “Thou shall not kill.”
Question 5: I heard someone mention righteous anger. Can you explain?
Ephesians 4:26 (NIV) “In your anger do not sin” Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry
Question 6: Why aren’t dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures not mentioned in the Bible. What about Neanderthals, other types of hominids. Homo erectis. Homo floresiensis. Homo naledi. They all existed within the time, or just before the time of humans.
Prehistoric animals
Job 40:15-18 (NIV) “Look at Behemoth,
which I made along with you
and which feeds on grass like an ox.
16 What strength it has in its loins,
what power in the muscles of its belly!
17 Its tail sways like a cedar;
the sinews of its thighs are close-knit.
18 Its bones are tubes of bronze,
its limbs like rods of iron.

Question 7: Can you explain Mark 9:24? – The man believed yet had unbelief.
Mark 9:24 (NIV) Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
Both belief and unbelief…
23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Mark 9:24 (CEV) At once the boy’s father shouted, “I do have faith! Please help me to have even more.”
Question 8: Follow up – How can I have enough faith?
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
