God from the very beginning has an ACCORDING TO way that He operates.
Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.”(NIV)
According to the immense power of His word this powerful thing happened to the entire universe. Because His word was powerful the outcome was powerful.
The rest of creation God lays a foundation of according to…
- God creates the trees and commands them to recreate after their kind… According to their kind.
- God creates animal life and commands them to recreate after their kind… According to their kind.
How God acts toward us is all a part of His “according to” plan. If we give, we will receive. If we forgive, we will be forgiven. If we judge we will be judged. According to the measure we give, forgive, judge… we receive according to that measure.
When it comes to our Worship and Praise to God, it should be according to something… Praise according to what?
Psalm 150:2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.(NIV)
We should praise God according to His acts of power! We should praise Him according to His surpassing greatness.
We need to look into the Word of God and find the Biblical way to worship God. Then we need to seek to worship God according to His acts of power and greatness.

God from the very beginning has an ACCORDING TO way that He operates.
Genesis 1:3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.(NIV)
According to the immense power of His word this powerful thing happened to the entire universe. Because His word was powerful the outcome was powerful
The rest of creation God lays a foundation of according to…
God creates the trees and commands them to recreate after their kind… According to their kind.
God creates animal life and commands them to recreate after their kind… According to their kind.
Apples seeds recreate apples. Frogs recreate frogs. Humans recreate humans. It is all ACCORDING TO God’s plan.
How God interacts with us is by His “ACCORDING TO” plan
His word tells us that according to our faith in Jesus Christ we have His Righteousness…
Romans 3:22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,(NIV)
He tells us that according to His grace we are saved…
Romans 3:24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.(NIV)
Jesus looked people in the eye and said ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH… and then healed them…
He has placed an according to law on us.
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.(NIV)
Galatians 6:8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.(NIV)
According to what you sow, you will reap. Be it good or bad, we reap according to what we sow.
God’s word tells us that the strength, the passion, the measure at which we sow, we will receive according to that strength, passion, or measure.
Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”(NIV)
Give and it will be given. According to what you give it will be given… but that is not all. “For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

God has this plan where things seem to equal out. That is why it is so important what you do every single day. That is why the Bible instructs you to forgive others their debt and trespasses, because then you will be forgiven your debts and trespasses. That is why the Bible tells us not to judge, because we then will be judged. The Bible instructs to be a blessing to receive a blessing.
God operates in an According to philosophy… Now this is probably not news for you. You might be sitting and watching or listening online and thinking “well I know that already, what a waste of time this sermon is.” You might be in the room right now and have convinced yourself that you don’t really need this sermon, it must be for someone else less spiritually mature than you.
Knowing the concept is not the big deal… after all it is a very simple concept. There are people who have not yet met Jesus that can understand this concept. It is an easy to understand. The big deal isn’t knowing, the big concept is living it out.
Let me review…
God gives this powerful word… a powerful thing happens. An equally powerful thing transpires.
God gives His powerful grace… You have a chance to be saved from Hell. Equally powerful!
According to your faith… you receive His righteousness and all your sins are washed away! Equally Powerful.
The measure you give… the measure you receive. The measure you judge… the measure you are judged.
IT ALL EQUALS OUT. Everything acts accordingly.
The Bible tells us to Worship God according to something…
Psalm 150:2 Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.(NIV)
When it comes to worship… when it comes to praise… We need to do it according to the level of His greatness.
Too often we worship according to
- how we feel
- how we like the music
- what other people are doing around us
- our comfort
- our denominational background
We need to worship according to His excellent greatness and his mighty acts of power.
How do you worship him? According to what? How did you worship Him today?
Psalm 145:3 Great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness [is] unsearchable.(KJV)
God is great. His worship is to be great. Are you worshipping according to His greatness?
Biblical Worship
What I have to say today is going to be a challenge. Please hear me…
Standing quietly with your arms to your side is not Biblical worship.
Worshipping internally is not Biblical worship. What is inside must come out!
Letting a song or music be the center of your worship experience is unbiblical. Jesus is the first and last, He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha & Omega… He is the center of our faith and the centerpiece of our worship!
You can have your musical preference, but it is unbiblical to worship Jesus according to your musical preference. If there is a rocking guitar driven band, a piano or acoustic guitar driven trio, or a Capella singing with no instruments your level of passion, excitement, awe of God ought to be the same. When you worship according to His greatness – external things won’t affect your praise.
Worship team! When you worship on stage but not offstage – that is unbiblical. If you worship in song but aren’t excited about the Word of God – that is unbiblical. If you are pumped about worship time but not the altar or a time of prayer – That is unbiblical.
Biblical worship includes –
- Lifting your hands
- Clapping your hands
- Singing
- Shouting
- Dancing
- Standing
- Kneeling or bowing
- Emotion & Passion! Joy, awe, conviction over sin, burden for the world around us
- Crying
- Giving our tithe and offering
- Giving and surrendering our hearts
- Worship God in Spirit and in Truth
- So much more…
I challenge you to be a Biblical worshiper. I challenge you to worship according to Scripture.
We all need to become greater worshippers. None of us has graduated from the school of worship. None of us are doing it well enough. None of us should compare how we worship to the person standing next to us… we should compare our heartfelt worship to God’s greatness.

Is your worship equal to His mighty acts of power?
Have you ever experienced a mighty act of God? Does your worship reflect it?
Redemption Church, we should have a worship that grows as we are exposed to more of God’s greatness. We should grow in worship.
We are going to continue in worship as we open these altars to talk to God. Before I invite you to come… Let’s stand and declare Scripture together…
Psalm 100:1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.(NIV)
Psalm 100:2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.(NIV)
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.(NIV)
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.(NIV)
