We are making the highly controversial move today by talking about it. Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? No way! This election is too important to place in their hands.
So we are talking about a 3rd party candidate then? Gary Johnson or Jill Stein? No. This candidate is not well known. There are being selected from oscurity to do the highest job in the land. This unlikely candidate is not a household name. They are political outsiders, but as a group of Christian believers we should fully give this candidate our full support.
I know it is really brash to do what I am about to do… But I am going to INSIST that this election you do exactly what your Pastor says… I insist that the candidate we throw our support behind is…
You.
The Bible says that God has elected you. You are chosen. You are hand picked. And you must step into this important calling. This is the most important election ever! Are you ready?

Welcome to Redemption Church. We are a helpful church in Plano Tx. My name is Chris Fluitt and I welcome you in the room as well as you wonderful people on our podcast.
We are in the 4th and final week of our help series. Here is a quick review
Help title
Week 1 we told you that the God who needs help from no one, is calling for you to help.
Week 2 we told you that asking for help doesn’t show weakness, but reveals strength. As a church we openly called for your help. As your pastor I openly ask for your help.
Last week we dove into many of the ways the world is crying for our help. The Church of Jesus should be a help to the world. We must Go, Be Present, and be a Help!
Today I want to talk about the most important election ever!!!
Oh Yes! We are going to dive into this most important Election ever. Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton are going to debate for the first time on Monday night, but before they take the Hofstra University stage in Hempstead, New York, I will tell you how to make your vote really count.
This election is so important we cannot afford to get this wrong. I know that coming out and making such a political stand might make a lot of people angry with me and Redemption Church. But I would tell you that a choice must be made.
So who is it? Is it Trump or is it Hillary? No way. An election this important can’t be entrusted into their hands.
I insist you take a look at this 3rd party candidate… Not Gary Johnson. Not Jill Stein. This 3rd party candidate is not well known. They are being brought from obscurity into a place of prominence. This unlikely candidate is not a household name. They are political outsiders, but as a group of Christian believers we should fully give this candidate our full support.

Your election is the most important ever!
You are God’s candidate.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(NIV)
You are God’s chosen candidate. God chooses you. That sounds crazy right?
The word for Chosen in 1 Peter 2:9 is the Greek word ek-lek-to’s. That word means elected.

While all the world is looking at our country and wondering who will be elected next president.. The Lord of Heaven is looking down at some people in Redemption Church.. God and all His angels are looking at you podcast listener..
The world is looking to a red or blue candidate yet again.. but God has elected you to help this world!
You didn’t even know you were running for office, but here you are.. You have God’s vote.
You are elected! Eklektos
It means picked out, chosen by God, to obtain salvation through Christ the Messiah!
You are elected!
Right now. Already.
I am not saying you are elected only when you kick that secret temptation struggle.
I am not saying you are elected only after you graduate from seminary.
I am not saying you are elected only after you preach a sermon or hold a ministry position.
You are elected right now! You are chosen right now. You are hand-picked right now. You are selected by God.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(NIV)
It does not say if you work hard you will be a chosen people… It says YOU ARE! Present tense!
It does not say that if you prove worthy over a period of time you will eventually become a royal priesthood. You are a royal priesthood.
The subject of election can be controversial. Let’s take a moment to teach.
There are some who believe that God elects some people to hell and some people to heaven. They believe that God has chosen or “predestined” people for hell or heaven. And they believe God made this decision before they were born.
We at Redemption church do not believe that is the Biblical way to understand ELECTION or PREDESTINATION. So let me explain this simply.
God has a prepared destination
God has a destination for everyone. His destination for everyone is repentance.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord.. is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
His destination for everyone is salvation. His destination for everyone is a relationship with Him and eternity in heaven. I believe his destination is blessing, purpose, power, strength, peace, love, joy!
Not only is that His destination, but he has PREPARED these destinations for us.. for all.. in advance.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.(NIV)
Notice that it says God has some destinations for you.. He has some good works, and they are prepared in advance by God!
God has a prepared destination
It’s a lot like Google maps on your smartphone or gps. You type in the destination and what happens? It gives you the best route to get to the destination.
What happens if you go the wrong way? You have that female robot voice say “make a u-turn.”
Just because you have a prepared destination in mind does not mean you can turn any direction and magically arrive at the destination. In order to arrive and the destination I must follow the directions.
That is how it is with God. He has prepared coordinates, but you have to do your part.
God has called you.. He has elected you… but you must do your part.
You play a part. Are you doing your part?
You are elected! You are chosen! Do you know your part?
1 Corinthians 3:9 We are labourers together…
You aren’t sure what your part is? Look around. We are labourers together!
We should be helping each other. We should support each other.
The Church of Jesus should be a place where no one walks alone. You don’t go through hardship alone. You are surrounded by brothers and sisters.. You ate surrounded by fellow labourers.
The Lord has chosen us.. elected us to be this kind of help to each other.
You can fulfill most of your callings by simply helping and loving your brothers and sisters.
1 Corinthians 3:9 We are labourers together… WITH GOD!
Your Call You should not be ordinary.
