God’s timing is perfect. We are in the 3rd week of a series called Circle Up. I truly believe we are in a time where God wants us to redefine what it means to be a Christian and what it means to be His Church.

Today I want to teach you how to draw a circle.

How to draw a circle

If you try to “eyeball it” you probably will likely fail at drawing a decent circle.  

But if you take a piece of string and attach it to a central anchor point.

There are 2 kind of circles…

  1. Those drawn by your hand…

           These circles are about proximity & self-centered urge…

           Why don’t I have meaningful relationships… Why isn’t anyone here to help me…?

No one has the urge to help because this circle has no anchor…

  • Those attached to an anchor…

These circles are a result of the anchor.

These circles center around purpose. 

Without an anchor your circle will drift from purpose.

Does your circle have an anchor?

Are you just eyeballing it or do you actually have an anchor?

During this time of quarantine are you just doing whatever… watching whatever pops up on Netflix… are you just going through your day without purpose?

If you have an anchor, even during times of uncertainty, you will still center on your purpose.

A few months ago you were making goals for the new year… Find a way to accomplish those goals during this time.

     Relationships

     Growing in God

You need an anchor. You need a focus.  You need to center your life.

Whatever you focus on, you become..  Whatever you tie yourself to, designs your circle.

Does your circle have an anchor?

Who/What is your anchor?

Now we are gathered here to worship God… But can I be honest enough to tell you that few people really have God as their anchor.

Self – what you think, feel, and desire.   (buying all the toilet paper)

Money –

Fame –

Pleasure –

The best anchor is Jesus.

Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 

The hope, the love, the strength, and peace we find in Jesus Christ

Jesus never changes!

Hebrews 13:8 (NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 

In good times… bad times… Jesus, the anchor of our soul, is the same.

Be honest… perhaps we are struggling right now because we have been anchoring to the wrong thing. Perhaps we have been eyeballing our circle…

We are about to talk to God.  As I close I want to bring you a verse you have often heard quoted, but perhaps have never understood its full context and meaning.

Philippians 4:13 (NIV) I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

If you love that verse go ahead and comment “I love that verse.”  

But what was Paul specifically talking about?  The verse says I can do ALL THIS… what is the this… go one verse earlier to see.

Philippians 4:12 (NIV) I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 

Paul is talking about the different times in his life…

The troubled times…  I CAN DO THIS THROUGH HIM WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.

The blessed times… I CAN DO THIS THROUGH HIM WHO GIVES ME STRENGTH.

At all times I have an anchor.
