Change your world: It's easier than you think

Pastor Chris FluittSermons

We are called to change the world.

There is something inside us driving us with a desire to see the world changed. But before we can change the world, we must change OUR world.
Before you hop on an Airplane and go change a far away country, God wants you to change things right where you are. He has given you Spirit Power to begin right where you stand.
We must make our domain, the territory of our influence, God’s Kingdom. God’s Kingdom is wherever he rules and reigns. Does God rule and reign in your sphere of influence? You should have a growing influence that is surrendered to God’s rule & reign.
You are called to change the world through this growing influence, and that seems very difficult. It is easier than you think.
The influence you already have could change the world right now! Let’s get to work.

Change the World

power change world
I believe everyone in the world would like to change the world. It doesn’t matter what your belief system is, you would like to see some things changed.  Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and atheism… they would all like to see the world changed.
Even if we disagree on how we would change the world, we could at the very least agree that we have this desire to see the world changed.
Everyone has this desire inside of them. Given all our differences, this similarity is striking. We don’t see animals trying to change the world. Monkeys, dolphins, and lions have never protested injustice, tried to feed the hungry, or stop the ongoing abuse of creatures around them. This desire within us to change the world, might be something more than evolutionary progress.
Humanity has this purpose inside us to Change the World.
In your Bible, God calls men & women to change the world.
Jesus said in Mark 16:15 (NIV2011) “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
We are called to go into this world and change it through the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
God has placed an anointed purpose upon you to proclaim good news, proclaim freedom, and to bring healing.
Luke 4:18 (NIV2011) “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,
God’s Spirit is given to you to empower you to change the world.
Acts 1:8 (NIV2011) You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
God’s Spirit has enough power to carry you to the ends of the world!
In Acts 17 men who were stirring up trouble against the apostle Paul and the rest of the church in Thessalonica started a riot. They were shouting in the streets that these Christians had “turned the world upside down.”

Change the World

It sounds like the Church of Jesus was Changing the world! The Church of Jesus should still be changing the world.  Does anyone believe that we are called to turn the world upside down?
Do you understand that God has called you, purposed you, empowered you, and has sent you to change the world?
But before you can Change THE World… You must Change YOUR World.

Change your World

changing your world
Redemption Church we are called to Change THE World, but we can’t change the world without first changing ourselves and bringing change within our realm of influence.
We must change our world. Church I want us to realize that when we worship, it is an opportunity to change us and our world. When we receive the Word of God it is an opportunity to change and bring change. When we talk to God it is an opportunity for change.  In other words you should change today! You should bring change to your world today.
Before you can the world, you need to change YOUR world.
We need to bring change to our sphere of influence. Our corner of the world is where we should start. We need change to come to where we live and how we live.

Change your domain

change territory
A domain is a territory that is ruled by an authority. Before you can change the entire world, you must first change the domain that you have authority over.
You have a domain. You have a sphere of influence. Everyone has a domain.
I don’t think we understand our influence or our domain.
Leadership author John C. Maxwell writes about the influence one life has on the world. Sociologists tell us that even the shyest introvert will influence 10,000 people over the course of his or her lifetime. The very people who attempt to have zero interaction with people will still influence thousands. It is impossible to not be an influence in the world because God has called each of us the change the world!
Our lives shape the people around us in profound ways. Whether we intend to or not, we affect others through our actions, words, or influence.
You are a person of influence! Called by God to change the world!

The question is not “Do we have influence?”  The question is “What level influence will we have. What will be the reach of our influence?”
Make the decision to be an influence. Enlarge your sphere of influence. Change YOUR world and change THE world.
Make the effort to gain influence and then exercise that influence for good.

The King’s Domain

kingdom domain
A kingdom is the domain of a King. The Kingdom of God is everywhere he rules and reigns.
Ultimately we need our domain to be His Kingdom. We need our influence to increase the reach of God’s Kingdom.
Are we doing that? Or do we have our domain, and we have partitioned of a small section of it to be His Kingdom?
EXAMPLE 1
partitioned christianity
This is mine and God this is yours. God these dollars are mine, these dollars are yours. God this time is mine, and this time is yours.
As Christians, as followers of Jesus, our entire domain should be his.  Are we the king of this domain, or is God King of this domain?
We should desire what the book of Revelation prophecies will happen.
Revelation 11:15 (NIV2011) “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.”
EXAMPLE 2
growing domain
We need to enlarge our influence and domain, and then give that influence and territory over to the King.
If you grow in your influence but do not give that influence over to the King, then you are not changing the World.  We are called to change the world and only God’s Kingdom can change the world.
Do not simply grow in influence. Grow God’s Kingdom through your growing influence.
We pray for success, but do we pray for Kingdom success?

Kingdom Success

king domain success
I believe that some of you are on the edge of a breakthrough. I know that you are about to receive the success you have always dreamed of and worked to receive. I am excited and believe God is totally behind you! I want to challenge you to be focused on Kingdom success.
Pray that you will have success, and that you will use this success to change the world.
Your success isn’t just for you, it is for the kingdom!
The job promotion, the pay raise, the new house, the new car, the scholarship and admittance into the college, the recognition, the popularity, the healing, the miracle, the good health, your intelligence, your winning personality, your blessings… They are not just for you! They are for the kingdom

You can’t change the world if you are like the world

change the world like the world
The world is coming at us like a fast paced river current. We are constantly hit with hatred, materialism, lust, negative thinking, depression, pride… We can’t go the direction of the stream. But we can’t stand still either.
Have you ever tried to stand in a river? It will carry you down stream. You can’t stand still against the world and maintain your ground. Instead you have to charge against the culture. The stronger the current of this world the harder we must push.
You are not going to change anything by going with the flow.
Romans 12:2 (NIV2011) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Don’t conform!

  • Don’t conform to hate.
  • Don’t conform to lust.
  • Don’t conform to greed.

Be Transformed! Do not be like the world! Go change your world.
Jesus asks us to change the world and that seems impossibly difficult. My final point today is important. Please listen.

Changing the world is easier than you think

change world easy

  • You can change the world with your time…

Just a little bit of time volunteering your time can change someone’s life forever. It only takes a little bit of time to change someone forever. I remember short conversations that changed my life forever.
Do you have 45 minutes? Every other Saturday we go sing songs and have friendly conversations with Alzheimer patients right here in Plano. It is called Villagio. 45 minutes of care can change someone life. Some of you have never come to a villagio service. A little bit of time could change someone’s life.

  • You can change the world with your generosity…

Do you have enough money to change the world? How much money would you need to bring change?
Have you ever put $5 in the offering plate? If so, then you have fed someone before. It is not rare for us to be contacted by people who are hungry.  $5 gets you a lot at In n Out burger. $5 gets you a lot of ramen noodles. $5 in the moment of need can change someone. I have never fed someone who didn’t want to hear about the King of my Kingdom, Jesus.
How much would it cost to change a city. For less than $200 this church was able to purchase 2 wifi antennas that would cover all of Cifuentes Cuba. Pastor Yoel Rodrifuez will be with us next week. He would tell you that your offering changed this world.
How much would it cost to open a medical clinic in Katmandu, Nepal? You opened a medical clinic in Nepal with an offering of $1000. Do you know how amazing that is? Can you give $1000? $1000 is $20 a week for a year. We through away $20 without thinking at the movies, starbucks, or online shopping.
Your generosity can change the world. You don’t have to be a millionaire to change the world.

  • You can change the world with your prayer…

The Bible tells us that prayer accomplishes much. (James 5:16)
There is no telling what would happen if you would pray. Prayer can change the world. Prayer can bring breakthrough. Prayer can stop spiritual forces of oppression. Prayer can open doors. Prayer can change problems into victories. What if you prayed about your problem people and saw them saved and become your greatest allies!?
Angry about politics? Have you prayed? Running out of options in your personal life? Have you prayed? Want to see God move like never before? Don’t wait for your pastor to get his act together… PRAY!

  • You can change the world with your voice…

What if you just opened your mouth and gave your story? What if you shared who Jesus is to you and all that he has done?
What if you used your voice to encourage others?
This is something that is supposed to be happening in the church. It should be happening in our small group ministries.  It’s not hard. Just use your voice and watch the world change.
Can you talk about the latest movie or restaurant, but not Jesus? Why is that? Change the world

  • You can change the world with your heart…

You know that part of you that feels the pull to help someone you don’t even know… That is your heart and it can change the world. God moves on our hearts and it brings out the best in us. It brings out love in us. It brings His Kingdom out in us.
Invite God to speak to your heart.
