What a beautiful day to be alive. Thank you God for this moment! Are you thankful to be alive today?
Welcome everyone to Redemption Church. We are a mighty Church in Plano Texas. My name is Chris Fluitt and I am so excited! Today we are baptizing people! I am so excited about it! Greetings to everyone in the room and to everyone experiencing God’s Word online.
We are in the final week of our series – All Things New
All Things New
We have been studying the New that Jesus brought us in Acts chapter 2!
We have talked about hearing & believing the Gospel – the good news that Jesus died, was buried, and rose again. We have talked about repentance. That change of mind and a new direction where we turn from sin and turn toward the savior.
We have talked about Baptism in Jesus name for the forgiveness of sins. Going down into that water and coming up a brand new & clean person ; and having the name of Jesus placed upon you.
And we have talked about receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. That same Spirit that created the world in Genesis 1… that same Spirit that was in Jesus Christ… that same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead… that same Spirit can dwell inside of you! It is powerful! And it is Brand New.
Let’s read these 2 verses that we have preached from these last weeks. Turn to Acts 2:37.
Acts 2:37 (NIV2011) When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
The “THIS” they heard was THE GOSPEL! They believed and they asked what they needed to do…
Acts 2:38 (NIV2011) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Do Not Stop
When you receive the Gospel, you are receiving something new, but do not stop!
When you repent, you are receiving something new, but… DO NOT STOP!
When you are baptized into the wonderful name of Jesus, you are receiving something new, but do not stop!
When you are filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit, you are receiving something new, but do not stop!
Jesus has more new for you
Acts 2:39 (NIV2011) The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
The promise is for you and no one else… no
The promise is only for your children… no
The promise is only for those in our circle, our church, our city, our nation, our skin color… no
The promise does not stop! It goes on and on!
His Promise goes beyond what you can see, hear, and think.
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NIV2011) …“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—
God has brand new things prepared for you and that no one has seen… no one has heard… no human mind has even conceived! His promise does not stop!
2 Corinthians 1:19 (NIV2011) For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not “Yes” and “No,” but in him it has always been “Yes.”
2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV2011) For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
Someone shout yes! Someone shout amen!
God’s promise in Christ has always been YES. All that is left for us to say is Amen… which means “so be it.” Do your thing God!
Are you ready for new? New is coming!
Revelation 21:1 (NIV2011) Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
Revelation 21:2-3 (NIV2011) I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
Revelation 21:4 (NIV2011) ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
You may be crying now, but new is on its way. You may be mourning now, you may have pain, but new is on it’s way. The old order of things will pass away. This is going to happen! Why on earth would you stop stepping into the promise of God!?
Revelation 21:5 (NIV2011) He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”
How much is he going to make new? Everything!
Will there be anything left of the old order of sin & death? No!
What will replace these old things? The New things of God.
Everything New
Don’t hold on to old things. God is making everything new.
Don’t hold on to past mistakes and regrets. God is making everything new.
Don’t hold on to weakness and inability. God is making everything new.
Don’t hold on to the hurtful words or actions someone has placed on you. God is making everything new.
Don’t hold on to what you are now… because you have no idea what YOU ARE GOING TO LOOK LIKE WHEN God makes everything new.
1 John 3:2 (NIV2011) Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
In the past, you weren’t able to overcome sinful habits… but God is making everything new. EVERYTHING!
There is a new strength and power for you today!
In the past you couldn’t possibly have shared your faith with someone.. but God is making everything new.
There is a new calling God is placing on You. The Spirit Himself will minister through you in brand new ways. Not only will you share your faith, but the Power and demonstration of the Spirit will impact people in new ways.
In the past you just tried to survive.. but God is making everything new.
God is making you a champion.
In the past you came to this altar in shame hoping someone would pray with you.. but God is making everything new.
Soon you will be coming to this altar to thank Him for what He is doing and looking to pray with someone else.
We are going to hold our time of talking to God in the lobby today as we baptize. Help us celebrate! I am going to pray for us before we go celebrate baptism.
Have you been experiencing God’s new?
Have you been holding onto old? Have you stopped short of the new that Jesus has for you?
Does it feel like NEW is in the rear view window or something ahead of you?
What is stopping you from receiving something brand new from God today?
