Must I Turn My Brain Off to Be a Christian?
Christian faith does not ask you to stop thinking. It invites you to investigate the deepest questions—and to place your trust in Jesus.
People are not only asking, “Is Christianity true?” They are asking, “Can I be intellectually honest and still follow Jesus?” The answer is yes. Faith is not the opposite of reason. Faith is trust—and it matters what, or whom, that trust is built on.
Valid faith is not afraid of questions.

Can faith and science fit together?
Science is an extraordinary tool for studying what happens inside the universe. It can describe the mechanisms of life, matter, energy, and motion. But it does not settle every meaningful question.

Why is there a universe at all? Why does anything exist rather than nothing? Hebrews 11:3 points us beyond the visible world: “what is seen was not made out of what was visible” (NIV). Christianity says reason can lead us to the threshold; faith recognizes the Creator behind the cosmos.
Can evolution explain moral truth?
Evolution may describe how behaviors that help a species survive develop. But survival alone cannot tell us why some acts are truly wrong. We know instinctively that child abuse, genocide, and betrayal are not merely inconvenient—they are evil.

That is not a throwaway argument. It is a clue that our moral awareness points beyond ourselves.
What should I do with my doubts about Jesus?
Thomas had doubts after the crucifixion. He did not want to borrow someone else’s belief. Jesus did not abandon him. He met Thomas, invited him to investigate, and called him to trust.
The central question is not whether you have every secondary issue settled. You may still have questions about Genesis, church traditions, politics, or the details of Christ’s return. The central question is: Who is Jesus, and is He worthy of my trust?
Thomas answered, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28, NIV). That is where a genuine search is meant to lead.

Respond in faith
Hebrews 11:6 asks the decisive question: Is God worth the search?
Questions people ask about faith
Can I be a Christian and believe in science?
Yes. Christianity does not ask you to reject evidence or stop learning. It invites you to ask the deeper questions science cannot answer by itself: why there is a universe, why people matter, and what makes moral truth real.
Does having doubts mean I do not have faith?
No. Thomas had doubts, and Jesus met him in the middle of them. Honest doubt can become the starting point of a stronger, more personal faith.
What if I am not sure the Bible is trustworthy?
That is an important question, and it is the next question in this series. Join us next Sunday as we explore whether the Bible can be trusted.
Can I ask a pastor a question without getting judged?
Yes. You do not need to have the wording perfect. Text Pastor Chris, fill out a connection card, or visit a Connect Group and we will start the conversation with you.
