Change your World – Outcry: The Key to a Big Change

Pastor Chris FluittSermons

We are called to change the world.

Do you want little change or BIG CHANGE?
God still does powerful supernatural things, and God is willing to work His power for anyone (He is no respecter of persons). So do you want God’s Big Change?
God did Big things in Egypt. 10 plagues, freed slaves walking out healed and wealthy, red sea parted, enemies drowned, pillar of fire, glory cloud, a rock that gives water… Egypt was the location of a collection amazing miracles. Talk about Big Change!
What brought about the Big Change? What are the conditions for a supernatural outpouring?

The key to a big change – Outcry: Change Your World

Sermon notes by Pastor Chris Fluitt

Redemption Church Plano Tx

It’s a wonderful day to be alive at Redemption Church. This is a mighty Church in Plano TX. We believe God has called us and assembled us together to change the world! That is our current sermon series.

Change the World

I serve as the Lead Pastor here at Redemption. My name is Chris Fluitt and I am so excited to preach to you today. God has been dealing with me about this sermon for around 3 years. I knew I was going to preach this sermon but the timing was never right. The timing is now right so I hope you came ready to receive the word today.
Over the last 2 weeks we had world changing ministries come preach to us. Pastor Yoel Rodriguez of Cifuentes Cube and Pastor Tony Fraley a church planting missionary in New York City were with us. We are so blessed to be partnered with these and other missions. We are called to change the world and we are doing it! These are just 2 of the ministries we support here at Redemption. Thank you for your faithful giving!
I have a question to ask you. Do you want a big change or a little change?

Do you want a BIG CHANGE or a little change?

Do you want a few moments where God uses you in little ways, or do you want God to constantly to use you in powerful supernatural ways?
Do you want your family to merely check “Christianity” on their Government forms, or do you want your Family to be radical world changers? Do you want your family to be a source of help, peace, light, & life in every situation? Is there something in your heart that wants to see your children do bigger & greater things for God that you ever did?  Or is it enough to just call our self “Christian?”
Do you want to leave here today having felt a little goose bump of God’s presence, or do want something more than that? Does anyone want to hear God’s voice and receive direction for the rest of their life? Are you hungry for a brand-new understanding and revelation?
Are you content with God moving through other people in ministry today, or do you want BIGGER THAN THAT? Do you want to pray for people and see them healed? Do you want God’s anointing on you today?
We are called to change the world!  Do you want a BIG CHANGE or a little change?

There are places in your Bible where the move of God is BIGGER than other times. A miracle is a miracle. I am not putting down any miracle in scripture. A miracle is God doing the impossible and we should never yawn at God’s supernatural power on display.
But still I hope you will agree that there are times when God seems to be doing BIGGER things. If we truly want to see these BIGGER THINGS from God, maybe we ought to look in the Word to find the catalyst for God’s move.

God did Big things in Egypt

God miracles Egypt
In Egypt God set Israel free. They walked out free, with great wealth. They didn’t walk out poor they walked out rich. They didn’t walk out sick, they walked out healed.
In Egypt there were 10 amazing plagues were God’s power was seen by everyone. Can you name the 10 plagues?

  1. Water into blood
  2. Frogs
  3. Lice (gnats or fleas)
  4. Stinging creatures/flies
  5. Diseased Livestock
  6. Boils
  7. Hail Storm
  8. Locusts
  9. Darkness for 3 days
  10. Death of the Firstborn

You talk about BIG THINGS. Of all the Big things God has done in your Bible, what He did in Egypt has to rate very high on that list.
They crossed through a parted Red Sea. Their enemies charged after them and were drowned in the Red Sea.
There was Pillar of Fire, a Glory Cloud, a rock that gave water. Miracle after miracle, God’s power was on display. God did BIG THINGS in Egypt.
Redemption Church do we want to see God’s Supernatural power on display like it was in Egypt? You need understand 2 things.
#1 God can still do these things. God has not changed!  Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today & forever. Malichi 3:6 God says “I the Lord do not change.”  Do we agree that God can still do BIG THINGS?
#2 What God did for Jewish slaves, He will do for you. Acts 10:34 declares that God is no respecter of persons. In other words, He doesn’t treat people differently. He doesn’t withhold his power & blessing from people based on race, wealth, or any other things humanity uses to divide us.
Understand these 2 things! #1 God has not changed, and #2 what He did for those slaves, he is willing to do for you!  God can still do it and He is willing to do it for you… DO YOU WANT IT?
Do you want a BIG CHANGE or a little change?
We serve a God of Big supernatural power. You ought to want his power more than the latest smart phone or whatever the Christmas ads can tempt you with! You ought to desire His miracles more than the thoughts that crowd your mind. We ought to set ourselves free from the fear of what other people may or may not think about us, and receive God’s power.
God’s big supernatural power can happen anytime and anyplace. So why doesn’t it happen here? Why did it happen in Egypt?

What are the conditions for a supernatural outpouring?

supernatural outpouring
Perhaps there is something we can learn from the Exodus story. Maybe there was a catalyst for this Big Change?
Think for a moment what would cause God to pour out his supernatural here? What would that be?
Is there something you can do that causes God to move?  Well kinda yes, but also kinda no.
First off, God operates by Grace. Grace means you can’t earn it. You can’t earn His presence or His miracles.
But to balance this out, it is also true that God rewards obedience. There are places in your Bible where people obeyed God’s command and then God responded with Supernatural reward.
So we are never forcing God’s hand. “God I did that thing your Word told me to do, now you need to make me win the Lottery.” That wouldn’t be by grace. That would be a scheme to earn His favor.
Yet it is true that if you want supernatural blessing in your life, you should be obedient to God’s Word.

Here are some ways we ought to be obedient.

  • We should pray & fast.
  • We should Love God & people.
  • We should give back to God.
  • We should carry His Gospel.

So Did God move in Egypt because He saw the Jews Praying & fasting?  No I can’t find that they were praying & fasting.
Where the Jews in Egypt actively loving God? Were they making sacrifices to Him and worshipping him? I can’t find evidence that they were worshipping the God of Abraham. I find more evidence that they were in falling in love with Egyptian tradition.
Were they practicing giving & generosity in Egypt? I find zero evidence of that.
Where they actively declaring God & His love? Where they spreading the Gospel that Messiah was going to come? No evidence of that.
There are no worship psalms that come from the 400 years in Egypt. There are no prophecies that come from Egypt. There are no stories of people serving God in the face of persecution like the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.
So what moved the heart of God to show up in power? That would be good to know right? The Bible tells us clearly what caused God’s Big Change to come to Egypt.
Exodus 2:23 (NIV2011) During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God.
Exodus 2:24 (NIV2011) God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob.
Exodus 2:25 (NIV2011) So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.
What brought on the dynamic supernatural outpouring in Egypt was so simple.
God heard the cry of groaning slaves.
I want to preach to you today about the Outcry.

Outcry

cry out
I want to tell you something about God. God cannot resist a cry for help.
God made Egypt the center of his attention because of the outcry groan of a slave.
If you are looking for a divine manifestation of God’s power & glory then there are 2 things you must do.

#1 Listen for the cry

cry of the people
God heard their cry and then God drew near and put His supernatural deliverance power on display.
If you want to be in the presence of God’s supernatural power than you need to learn how to listen. The Church of Jesus needs to learn how to listen. He that has ears let them hear, the Bible says.
God heard the cry and God drew near.
Redemption Church we need to listen to the cry of the world around us, because that is the location where God is drawing near.
Where there is a cry for help, you can be sure that God is drawing near.

  • There are people crying out for help because they don’t know where their next meal is coming from or where they will sleep tonight. Do you hear that cry?
  • There are children who desperately want to be adopted but end up aging out of the system without ever knowing the love of a mom and dad. God hears their cry. Do you?
  • There are people crying because they have experienced great loss. Do we hear?
  • Wherever there is a natural disaster, terrorism, or war, there are people crying. Listen.
  • There is injustice & abuse all over the world. There is persecution and hatred. Listen for the cry.

The Church of Jesus should listen for the cry and then travel to the location of the cry, because that is the site where God’s BIG CHANGE is going to show up.
If you hear the cry you can be certain that God hears the cry. I want to travel quickly to the site of the cry, because God is about to show up.  If you are present you will witness it. If you show up, God may use you in a powerful supernatural way.
God heard the cry of His people.  God then calls on a man named Moses. Moses had also heard the cry of the Israelite slaves and tried to do something to help but ultimately failed. Moses was a far off, but God drew him to  the site of the great deliverance.
God is looking for someone who hears and is willing to go.
Are you the one God is looking for? Do you hear? Are you willing to go?
If you are looking for a divine manifestation of God’s power & glory then you need to #1 listen for the cry. We also need to Cry Out.

#2 Cry out

prayer cry
God can’t resist a cry. When was the last time you cried out?
God heard the cry of the slaves in Egypt and everything that followed was powerful & supernatural.
Redemption we need to cry in prayer, cry in worship, cry in this altar. If we want to be a powerful Church where God operates in the supernatural, we need to learn to cry out.
The world has too many silent Christians.

Silent Christian

christian silence
Silent Christian is an oxymoron. Do you realize these two words have opposite meanings?
Christians should not be silent. Christians should be vocal.
We should be speaking the good news of Jesus Christ. We should be speaking out against injustice. We should be speaking life, hope, & encouragement to the helpless & hopeless. Christians should be vocal!
Far too many Christians are silent! Can I remind you that God can’t resist a cry for help?! Open your mouth!
We are too quiet. Especially in spiritual things like prayer.
I cannot stand it when someone says “Let us pray” and then everyone is quiet as one person prays. It’s like everyone is silent and listening to the one person praying. I challenge that, as unbiblical. The Church of Jesus Christ didn’t stand around and listen to each other pray in Acts 2. They all spoke under the influence of the spirit. Every believer was vocal on that day and cried out!
Do not be quiet in prayer. I know that some of us are louder than others. We have different personalities and some of us are more “out going.” Don’t fall back on that excuse. Prayer is spiritual & supernatural. Prayer is not about your personality.
There are times where silent prayer may be appropriate… It’s a form of praying quietly to not distract. As I am preaching, it is completely appropriate to be in an attitude of silent prayer. Way more appropriate than standing AND PRAYING OUT LOUD “Lord help my pastor, he has no idea what he is doing…”
There are moments that you should pray silently, but there is something wrong if the majority of your prayer time is spent in silence. We will come to this altar today and you should not stand around silently. SPEAK OUT PRAYER!
There is power in speaking out loud. The Bible bears this out in creation, Jesus’ miracles, and in the book of Acts Church.  We should not be SILENT CHRISTIANS!
Speak the Word! Speak Life! Speak in tongues! Speak your heart! Speak worship!
The slaves spoke through a groan…

How well articulated is a groan?

groan god prayer
When you and I hear someone groan we ask… “What is wrong?” We know something is wrong, but we don’t know what is wrong. God heard their groan and knew something was wrong. But also God heard their groan and knew WHAT was wrong. The very next verses we see God talking to a deliverer named Moses.
How well articulated is a groan?

Romans 8:26 (NIV2011) In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

When you don’t know how to pray you can pray with a wordless groan.  Did you know this? Have you ever done it? The 1st century church did!
The SPIRIT HIMSELF will supernaturally intercede through wordless groans. This isn’t weird, it is supernatural!

Be the instrument of the Spirits intercession.

instrument spirit
There are situations where you don’t know how to pray. What do we pray for? God what do you want to happen because I have no clue.
I don’t know how to pray for the situation with our transgendered brothers and sisters. The statistics say that a transgendered person is 22 times more likely to have suicidal thoughts & 14 times more likely to commit suicide. 80% of teenage transgendered people have committed self harm.

I don’t know how to think through this prayer. I need the Holy Spirit to pray through me. I need to be the instrument of God’s intercession. This is a more powerful way to pray than our own thoughts.
This is praying in the Spirit.
There have been times in prayer where God has stirred up my emotions and I actually felt the heartache the other person was feeling. There have been times I have wept and groaned in prayer; times where I surrendered myself to be the instrument of the Spirit.
You know what you call a silent instrument?  Broken! An instrument that doesn’t sound is broken.
The Church of Jesus needs to be louder than ever in prayer.  We need to CRY OUT in the Spirit. If you will, then you will see God come and bring the Supernatural.
I am about to open this service for a time of prayer. As I do, I want to remind you…

Do you want a BIG CHANGE or a little change?

Where is our world crying?  That is the scene of the next supernatural outpouring.
Can you find me a believer that is crying out in the intercessory prayer of the Spirit? They are already operating in the supernatural outpouring.
Will we allow God to stir up our emotions today? Will you allow the Spirit to use you as an instrument?
We are called to Change The World! Do we want to see a Big Change or a little change?
Are you going to be silent today?
