Life can be confusing if you confuse what is and isn’t.
Welcome to Redemption Church of Plano Tx. My name is Chris Fluitt and I am excited to be preaching to you today. We are in the last week of our Is Isn’t series.
Week 1 – Jesus is Fully God and Fully Man. Jesus isn’t anything like the Pharisees
Week 2 – Church is built by God right by the gates of hell. Church isn’t a club for perfect people.
Week 3 – Faith is essential and God has given everyone a measure of faith. Faith isn’t having all the answers or a get out of jail free card.

Today we are going to talk about you. You is and isn’t. (You are and aren’t)
It’s important to know who you are and who you aren’t.
Lebron James is probably the best basketball player in the world… but he would make a terrible horse jockey…
All time great forward… or the worst horse racer of all time. Can you imagine how different his life would be if he would have decided he was going to be a jockey?
Have you ever tried to be someone you aren’t? In Junior High I tried to be cool… which I interpreted as cursing… Everyone laughed at me cursing because they realized that wasn’t really me. It’s never cool to try to be someone you aren’t.
Think for a moment how different our lives would be if we spent all our energy trying to be what we aren’t.
God says some things about who You are and Aren’t
You Are not your own
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;(NIV)
1 Corinthians 6:20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.(NIV)
You don’t belong to yourself. You belong to the creator.
This makes sense, but we don’t always live life like we belong to the creator…
We make our own decisions without consulting God.
We become worried rather than trust God.
We often go our own way when God has clearly told us differently.
But You are not your own!
Therefore you should honor God with all that you are.
Aren’t you glad God doesn’t leave us to be our own? You aren’t your own… Savior, Healer, Counselor, Comforter
Here is why God doesn’t leave you alone.
You are loved
God loves you. This is the most important thing you can know in life.
Don’t let anyone tell you, you aren’t loved! That is a lie.
If you know that God loves you… you most likely remember the moment you realized He loves you. That moment is life changing. You should be quick to tell the story of God’s love for you.
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(NIV)
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.(NIV)
5:10 For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son…
God’s love for you isn’t dependent on your actions. God loves us while we are sinners and His enemies.
You shouldn’t feel worthless. You are so worth-wile that God loves you! YOU ARE LOVED!
You are victorious
Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.(NIV)
Romans 8:38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,(NIV)
Romans 8:39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(NIV)
Through His love you are more than conquerors! You are victorious.
And nothing can separate you from this victory… because nothing can separate you from His love.
Do you realize what it takes to have victory in this life? 2 steps. 1. Realize God loves you. 2. Stay in His love.
You aren’t disposable
God is committed to you. Not just while you are making good decisions. Not just in this life. But for eternity!
Humanity isn’t disposable. Adam and Eve fell in the garden… Mankind was and is completely broken.
WHAT do we do with broken things? We usually throw them away and get a new one…
God could have done this with humanity. God could have disposed of Adam & Eve, but His loving actions just prove to us that Humanity isn’t disposable.
You aren’t disposable
The world average for life expectancy is around 68 years… But God’s commitment goes way past your final breath. God made you an eternal soul. You are an eternal soul trapped in a human body.
Your soul will spend eternity in one of 2 places. Heaven or Hell.
Matthew 25:46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”(NIV)
Do you know where you will spend eternity?
…We want to talk to you about it…
God doesn’t seek to dispose of you… instead…You are a New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!(NIV)
Let’s be clear here… The Bible doesn’t say you can turn over a new leaf… That you can do incrementally better..
It says You are a New Creation
I’m happy to tell you… You aren’t once an addict always and addict. You won’t always be depressed or unhappy. Your problems and mistakes don’t define you… God changes all of that. You are a new creation.
God knows a thing or 2 about creation. He spoke this world into existence. He can do the same for you right
now!

You are a Friend
I hate feeling like an outsider. Have you ever felt like an outsider?
Sin brings separation between you and God. Sin makes us outsiders. But Jesus says something amazing..
John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.(NIV)
You are more than a servant.. Servants are just told what to do… they don’t have the plan explained to them.
But Jesus calls you friend and has shared EVERYTHING with us.
Have you felt like you were on the outside? God is calling you into His plan.
You aren’t an outsider. You are a friend.
Have you been listening to what others say about you? Listen to what God says about you.
