We forget a lot don’t we…? Quickly take inventory of all the sermons you remember. We remember a lot less than what we have heard right?
Humans are forgetful. Any more we need little reminders to pop up on our phones and social media page to remind us of important things.
God commands us to remember. We are to remember and live out the word of God, but too often we only listen and then forget.
We often remember the wrong things. We always remember our fear, failure, hurts, insecurities.. This is not by chance. Our Enemy is continually accusing according to scripture (Revelation 12:10). There is a spiritual entity that tries to keep our lives focused on the wrong things.
We should change that! Revelation 12:11 tells us how to change that!
- The Blood of the Lamb
- The Word of our Testimony
We preach a lot about the blood of Jesus, but let’s take a moment to talk about your Testimony!
Testify – to serve evidence & proof as a witness.
Are you a witness? Will you testify?

**Vid bumper – Lego Church NEXT WEEK
*PRAY* The Tornado that hit Garland/Dallas
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I hope you had some much needed time with family. I rejoice that everywhere we went, be it grocery stores or shopping malls we heard music that celebrated the birth of our savior, the Christ, The Messiah Yeshua/Jesus.
I enjoyed taking time to preach our last sermon series about the incarnation. If you missed of that series please go check out the BC series on redemption-church.com.
Next Sunday we will be in the year 2016. Can you believe that!? We will be starting a new series called Lego Church. It will focus on how God wants to build your life and His church.
Lego Church is next week. The 3 previous weeks was BC. Does anyone remember the sermon I preached 4 weeks ago? It’s kind of important you remember.. If you don’t remember I guess I will just need to re-preach it…
Don’t forget to Remember
We have days of remembrance. Days that are set aside. National holidays designed to celebrate and remember. We have reminders in our calendars and smart phones that alert you that someone’s birthday or anniversary is today…
We have these days of remembrance and these tech reminders because..
Humans are forgetful
Things that we think we will never forget… we forget..
You may have forgotten that sermon preached so recently. In fact, take a moment to inventory the amount sermons you actually remember. We often remember what we felt versus what was taught.
Your Bible warns you about forgetting the word of God.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.(NIV)
James 1:23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror(NIV)
James 1:24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.(NIV)
James 1:25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it–he will be blessed in what he does.(NIV)
Stern words here but also a great promise. If we hear the word but don’t allow it to take root then we are like people who look into a mirror and look away and forget what they look like. Your true identity is revealed in God’s word.. if you forget it, you are forgetting your purpose and identity.
The blessing of remembering the word is huge – You will be blessed in what you do.
God commands us to remember! We need to remember
We told the story of the Landmark that God told Joshua & Israel to build as they crossed over the Jordan river. They were to stop everything and build something that would be remembered forever. Too often we hurry on to the next thing..
We told the story of David having faith to stand before the giant named Goliath. He testified of what God had done in His past… HE REMEMBERED THAT GOD HAD DELIEVERED HIM WHEN HE FOUGHT A BEAR & A LION – GOD WOULD DELIEVER THIS GIANT INTO HIS HAND.
We need to remember… but… We remember the wrong things
Say amen if what I am saying is true…
- We remember our fears…
- We remember our failure…
- We remember our hurts & insecurities..
It’s like they play on a loop in our brain. Never to be forgotten.
There is a spiritual enemy that won’t let them be forgotten…
Check out how your enemy Satan is described in Revelation 12:10
Revelation 12:10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.(NIV)
Satan accuses you day & night… Brothers and sisters we have listened to him long enough. It’s time to stop remembering the words of the enemy. We need to remember the word of God! We need to remember every victory that God has brought us.
Satan may know your past, but you know Satan’s future!
Remembering doesn’t just happen… We have to make a conscious choice! You have to build those landmarks. We have to make a life decision to change our focus and start celebrating the words of the God who loves us.
The enemy steals
4 weeks ago I stood in this very spot and warned you that the Enemy steals. I told you about the parable of the seed and the birds that came to devour the “seed of the word of God” before it could take root.
I told you the enemy comes to steal, kill, & destroy.
I told you… The enemy can’t stop God from doing miracles in your life. But as soon as God speaks to you.. as soon as God does a supernatural thing in you.. as soon as you have received the Word of God… the Enemy seeks to steal it from you or make you doubt it.
A Christian that is not living out the Word of God they are receiving… could it be that the enemy is stealing from them…?
A Church that is not fulfilling the great commission… they are not telling the world of the great things God has done… COULD IT BE that the enemy has been working in their midst?
I stood here and told you about 2 things that overcome the enemy… do you remember them?
Revelation 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.(NIV)
#1 the Blood of the Lamb. #2 The word of their testimony.
Testify – to serve evidence & proof as a witness.
Today we are going to do something different.
Today we are going to do something risky.
I am done preaching… I want you Redemption Church to spend some time REMEMBERING… THANKING GOD… & TESTIFYING OF WHAT GOD HAS DONE AND WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN FAITH HE WILL DO.
This will be completely different for some of you. For some of you it will seem like a throw back to “old church.” What we are doing is very biblical.
You should testify.
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.(NIV)
Do you want the super natural?
Haven’t you had enough of the natural?
