Happy New Year!

We want to see you have the best year ever.

2020 Vision

You can waste it… try to buy yourself some more of it… save it or spend it…
It is of the essence… it is on our hands… and it flies when you are having fun…

Time

Have you ever said or thought these words? “If I only had the time…”  “I could do so much more, if I only had the time?”  “I would start a business, go back to school, adopt a child, volunteer in a ministry… if I only had time.

How much time do you need to… accomplish your dreams… save a life… change the world?

Buddy Holly

You may not know it but this guy changed the world in a short amount of time.

Started a band in the small town of Lubbock Tx and became a pioneer of Rock & Roll.  His band was “the Crickets” and his name was Buddy Holly.

Some young guys in Liverpool, England got ahold of a Crickets album and decided to start their own band and call it the Beatles.  Sir Paul McCaurtney has said publicly that there would be no Beatles without Buddy Holly.

Buddy Holly’s career was cut short when he tragically died in a plane crash, just 18 months after starting His music career. 18 months… He changed the world of music forever… All the music in your spotify playlist was influenced by this guy from Lubbock…

Could you change the world in 18 months?

A Concession Stand worker in Miami Florida… The son of immigrants who lived in an impoverished area, he worked in the concession stands at Dolphin Stadium throughout Highschool…

4 years later, Rashad Fenton returned to Dolphin’s stadium and won the Super Bowl for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Could you go climb up from concession worker to world champion in 4 years?

You can do anything if you learn to take advantage of time!

Time

Time management – Important skill.

The best, God sent, world changing vision & mission means nothing if you don’t take advantage of your time.

The world is filled with people who set their goals but didn’t use their time to accomplish.

Time to Accomplish

It is time to accomplish!

Today is the 2nd Sunday of February 2020. You have created resolutions, vision, mission, dreams, desires, hopes… But have you spent the time to accomplish?

Today, February 9th, is the 40th day of the year. Are you satisfied with how used your time?

Your Bible has a lot to say about time. Your New Testament uses 2 different words that we have translated as “time.” Sometimes you need to look beyond the translation to better understand what the original word choice and meaning of a verse.

Chronos & Kairos

These words are very different.

Chronos – This Greek word is the root of our words Chronological, Chronic, Chronicle…

Chronos means time… as in ordered time, linear time, the seconds ticking by, the minutes, the days, the years passing in order.

Chronos is used 53 times in your New Testament.

John 7:33 (NIV2011) Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time(chronos), and then I am going to the one who sent me.

Chronos can be a short time or a long time.  It can be seconds or centuries.

Chronos time is valuable. Chronos time is a gift from God.

Psalm 90:12 (NIV2011) Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Using your time correctly is wise.

Buddy Holly didn’t just sit around those 18 months and become a world changing musician… He worked.
Rashad Fenton didn’t just wait for things to come his way for 4 years until he was finally a professional football champion… He worked.

Are you working? Are you taking advantage of your Chronos time?

A man named Nehemiah received a God mission. It shook him to his core. When he heard that his homeland of Israel was in ruins… that the walls and gates of the city of Jerusalem were burnt with fire… that the city laid in waste… here is what Nehemiah did…

Nehemiah 1:4 (NIV2011) When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.

Nehemiah did not waste time.  He immediately began to pray… he went to the king of Persia and requested to go himself and rebuild the walls of Jerusalem…

Nehemiah did not waste time complaining… or waiting for someone else to handle the problem… He did more than just feel the need, the tears, the goosebumps… Nehemiah was timely.

Nehemiah 6:15 (NIV2011) So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.

Chronos – 52 days. Victory, accomplishment, fulfillment, powerful, life changing…

Can you change accomplish in 52 days?

You have Chronos time and you can accomplish anything with it!

Kairos Time – is a present opportune time. The right time or season… God’s timing. A GOD MOMENT.

Galatians 6:9 (NIV2011) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time(kairos) we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Galatians 6:10 (NIV2011) Therefore, as we have opportunity(kairos), let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NIV2011) …I tell you, now is the time(kairos) of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Chronos & kairos are both important, but very different.

Chronos is about quanitity.
Kairos is about quality.

Chronos is about a time either in the past or future.
Kairos is about the present.

Chronos is a time where you could work.

Kairos is a time where God will work.

God’s kairos timing is different that our chronos timing.

God’s kairos timing is BETTER than our chronos timing.

God can accomplish more in a single kairos moment than we could if we all worked all our chromos time.

2 Peter 3:8 (NIV2011) But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

A single day for God… is like 1000 years for you and me.

Chronos is time for you to accomplish.

Time to Accomplish

You need to take adavantage of the Chronos you have today…

But Kairos is time for God to accomplish.

Time FOR GOD to Accomplish

If I had to pick between a lot of Chronos time… and a single kairos moment with God… I’d choose the kairos God moment.

If you have a God given vision & mission, you are going to need A GOD MOMENT!

If you really want to live a meaningful life, accomplish your goals, and change the world… you are going to need A GOD MOMENT!

I have experienced some God Moments! Healing, salvation, filled with the Spirit, felt His love, used by the Spirit, seen God do the impossible…

Do you want a Kairos moment with God?  Do you want a moment where he does the supernatural, uses you powerfully, heals, blesses, saves, gives yu hope and future???

Why should God give you a kairos moment, when you waste all your chronos moments?

Worship… pray… Bible… Altar… Church…

Do you want a Kairos moment?  Are you willing to sacrifice some Chronos for a Kairos moment?

Kairos moments are filled with faith…  READ HEBREWS 11:1 with me…

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV2011) …Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Kairos moments have an unmistakable confidence & assurance in them. When you step out in faith, into a kairos God moment… there is nothing like it.

When can you start living beyond Chronos, and living within Kairos moments?

Look back at Hebrews 11:1… The answer is the first word!  NOW.

Now Faith

Faith only operates in the now!  Faith does not live in the past, or future, but in the present.

Kairos is a present tense word. You can only have a God moment in the present.

When you take your kids to the playground but keep checking your watch because you have meeting you need to be at in 30 minutes… that is Chronos…
But your kids are playing in Kairos time. They are only thinking about the now.

We are about to come talk to God.  Are you willing to step beyond a chromos moment and to have a present moment with God?

What can God do in this present moment?
