Good Sunday evening to everyone! I love worshipping Jesus with you folks. Thank you, everyone, for joining us at Redemption Church in Plano Tx. Greetings to our growing number of online viewers. My name is Chris Fluitt and I am excited to share the Word of God with you today.

Today is the 30th of December. 2018 has only a few hours left and then we will be in a brand new year. I was praying for what to share from God’s Word, and I feel like God wanted me to direct you to a theme or pattern in Scripture.

I have a lot of scripture for you today. You will not be able to keep up. Don’t even try to take notes.

Joshua 7:10 (NIV2011) The Lord said to Joshua, “Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?

Joshua 7:13 (NIV2011) “Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them.

1 Samuel 9:26 (KJV) And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Get up, that I may send you…

Isaiah 52:1 (NIV2011) Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor…

Isaiah 52:2 (NIV2011) Shake off your dust; rise up, sit enthroned, Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains on your neck, Daughter Zion, now a captive.

Acts 26:15 (NIV2011) “Then I asked, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ “‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,’ the Lord replied.

Acts 26:16 (NIV2011) ‘Now get up and stand on your feet. I have appeared to you to appoint you as a servant and as a witness of what you have seen and will see of me.

Song of Solomon 2:10 (NIV2011) My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me.

Mark 5:35 (NIV2011) While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”

Mark 5:41 (NIV2011) He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”).

Mark 5:42 (NIV2011) Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

Acts 9:40 (NIV2011) Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.

Acts 9:41 (NIV2011) He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive.

Luke 7:12 (NIV2011) As (Jesus) he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.

Luke 7:14 (NIV2011) Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”

Matthew 17:5 (NIV2011) While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

Matthew 17:6 (NIV2011) When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified.

Matthew 17:7 (NIV2011) But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.”

Matthew 17:8 (NIV2011) When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.

Mark 3:1 (NIV2011) Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there.

Mark 3:3 (NIV2011) Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”

Mark 3:5 (NIV2011) He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored.

Matthew 9:6 (NIV2011) But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.”

Matthew 9:7 (NIV2011) Then the man got up and went home.

Acts 9:33 (NIV2011) There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years.

Acts 9:34 (NIV2011) “Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up.

Acts 10:13 (NIV2011) Then a voice told him, “Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.”

Acts 10:14 (NIV2011) “Surely not, Lord!” Peter replied. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

Acts 10:15 (NIV2011) The voice spoke to him a second time, “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

Acts 10:16 (NIV2011) This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

Acts 14:8 (NIV2011) In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked.

Acts 14:9 (NIV2011) He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed

Acts 14:10 (NIV2011) and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.

Get up & Go!

This pattern appears repeatedly throughout scripture. There are two parts to this pattern;

  • Get up!
  • Go!

It’s incredibly simple!

You would never tell someone who is already standing to stand.

You would tell someone who had fallen to arise.

You would tell someone who is down to stand.

2018 may have been a year with a lot of falling down in it. A lot of losses and hurts may have you down. But God says GET UP.

When God says GET UP, you CAN get up.

The world says you can’t get up:

  • Your doctor
  • Your bank statements
  • Your friends and family
  1. BUT IF GOD SAYS GET UP… YOU CAN GET UP.

Micah 7:8 (NIV2011) Do not gloat over me, my enemy! Though I have fallen, I will rise. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.

Even those who are dead, in the grave, will GET UP when God calls them. Jesus said “Lazarus come forth” and Lazarus came right out of that grave.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 (NIV2011) For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 (NIV2011) After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:18 (NIV2011) Therefore encourage one another with these words.

The very prospect of death is scary. I hate to think about being in a coffin. I can’t stand to imagine my loved ones being lowered into a grave.

Once someone is buried they seem to be gone from your life.

YOU HAVE THE EXCEPTION THROUGH GOD

WHEN GOD SAYS GET UP… YOU CAN GET UP!

When God tells you to go, he has somewhere for you to go.

God does not ever tell someone to get up and just stand there… get up and just do nothing… get up and twiddle your thumbs. No! God tells you to GET UP & GO!

God has something for you to do and somewhere to go!

He looked at those disciples and told them to go into all the world and preach the gospel. If God told them to go do it… do you think they could go do it? Yes.

If God tells you to go, then His power is available to accomplish.

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV2011) For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

In advance, God has prepared good works for you to accomplish. When He tells you to go, he is leading you into something He has prepared for you.

When God says Go… You have somewhere to go.

When God says get up… You can get up.

In Ezekiel 37 God brings the prophet into a vision. In the vision the prophet is brought into a valley of dry bones. There is death all around the prophet. There are fallen people everywhere. God brought the prophet to a place where the only sensible thing to do was to have a funeral.

Ezekiel 37:3 (NIV2011) He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

Ezekiel 37:4 (NIV2011) Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!

Ezekiel 37:5 (NIV2011) This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.

At the command of God these bones Got Up! At the command of God these now living bodies went forth.

Ezekiel 37:3 (NIV2011) He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.”

I want to ask you… can these bones live? Can the dead wreckage of 2018 live in 2019?

I believe God wants us to operate by faith tonight. I believe He wants us to prophesy to our situation.

I believe the Spirit is calling us to Get Up! I believe the Spirit is empowering us to Go!
